I'm from California, so I knew immediately it was an earthquake and I could tell by the way it felt that we were near the Epicenter. However, I had not expected an earthquake this big in Idaho and hadn't really thought about what I would do. At first I stood up and turned around in a circle, then I ran to my laundry room and sat in the floor and waited for it to end. I live in a second story apartment, there what's a lot of cracking and popping and up-and-down movement, it slowed down twice and then started again, then it finally died down and stopped. Nothing fell off the walls though and so far I haven't seen any damage.

Was working in the garage on a ladder with garage door open. Heard a LOUD roar, thought it was a huge wind and the house was going to blow over. On the ladder the shaking felt especially strong. Didn't realize it was actually an earthquake until I saw the cars parked in the driveway bouncing and swaying like crazy. Felt the ground rolling under my feet.
